I’ve been developing my ability to improvise counterpoint on guitar for around 20 years. It wasn’t until I took a counterpoint class in my undergrad that I started to have the breakthroughs to really be able to play convincing baroque sounding 18th century style counterpoint fluently, and this style is the base that’s I use to improvise or compose in any style. The Score/TAB to the Study I wrote to help you get started learning to understand counterpoint on guitar and start to develop your ear is free on my scores page when you sign up for my email.
If you have any issues message me on your preferred social/email to have me send you a copy. Thank you, and enjoy!
I’ve decided to start recording, filming and releasing free improvisations for solo guitar as a way to provide as much content as possible while hoping to expose more people to classical guitar improvisation and classical improvisation as a whole. Many great composers were also remarkable improvisors on their instrument from Bach to Liszt and beyond, yet very few people think of improvisation when they think of older western styles. Improvisation is a vital part of any living music and with any luck it will once again make it’s way into formal classical training.
That’s right, Dim Bloom score is now available along with all my other scores for free.
What’s the catch? The catch is I want your email. So, I’ve made it so the only way to get to the download page is through a welcome email.

Now that the important stuff is out of the way, check out my new video of Reflections in the Rain! I’m loving my new mic, the MOTIV 51 by Shure. It makes portable recording/streaming high quality audio video a breeze.
I released the EP Dim Bloom and this song by the same name almost 2 years ago and it’s still a joy to play.
I’ve started to record performances of some of my favorite J.S. Bach pieces to play on guitar. I’m starting with the Allemande from 996 because I’ve been playing it longer than any piece. Even after around 17 years of playing it, I see it in a new light every time I re-learn it.

I’m very excited to start offering my services as a classical guitarist for weddings and all gatherings that could be spruced up by some nylon strings! I’ll be fully vaccinated within a few weeks and ready to elevate the mood of whatever soirée or celebration you have in mind!
I get this piece requested almost every time I stream, and if I don’t I usually play it anyway, so it was about time I made a real video of it.
Hope you enjoy it!
Classically Different is an educational video series based on my method of teaching and learning classical guitar. It is also the name of my ever-growing collection of compositions, exercises and arrangements devoted to teaching and learning classical guitar. In this video I explain what good posture is for classical guitar and how to achieve it. A performance of my arrangement of Gasper Sanz’s beloved Canarios. This lovely piece has been arranged by and for, so many classical guitarists it’s unfathomable how many variations have been created. My arrangement draws from some of the intensity of Julian Breams version for guitar and orchestra, as well as the delicate natures of the baroque guitar.
